Reporting a wrong count
Counting bugs are the most useful reports we get, and the most fixable. To make one actionable, include:
- the exact text, or a short excerpt that reproduces it;
- the language selected in the counting-language dropdown;
- the number shown, and the number you expected;
- your browser and operating system, since word segmentation comes from the browser.
Before reporting, it is worth readinghow this counter works — hyphenated words, contractions, abbreviations and emoji are counted deliberately, and the reasoning is set out there.
Accessibility problems
If any part of the site is unusable with a keyboard, a screen reader, high-contrast mode or heavy zoom, please say so and describe what you were trying to do. Accessibility reports are treated as bugs, not as feature requests.
Grammar suggestions that are wrong
Grammar results come from an open-source checking engine rather than from rules written here, so a suggestion that is simply wrong about English is usually best reported upstream to that project. If a suggestion is broken in a way that looks like our fault — the wrong span underlined, an accepted fix corrupting the text, an error message that makes no sense — that is ours and we want to hear about it.
What this address is not for
We cannot proofread, edit, translate or write your text for you, and we cannot confirm whether a particular count will satisfy a particular institution — only the institution can.
