Terms of Use
Last updated
By using WordCounterOrg you agree to these terms. They are deliberately brief, because the site is a free browser utility with no account and no payment.
What the service is
WordCounterOrg provides two tools: a word counter that analyses text in your browser, and a grammar checker that downloads a checking engine to your browser and then checks English text locally. Both are free to use, with no registration and no usage charge.
Your text remains yours
You keep every right you already had in anything you type or paste. Using this site grants us no licence over your writing, and we make no claim to it. We do not store it — see theprivacy policy for exactly what happens to it.
Acceptable use
Do not use the site to:
- attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to it or the services it relies on;
- do anything unlawful under the law that applies to you.
No warranty
The tools are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind. Word counts, character counts, readability scores and estimated times are computed in good faith and covered by automated tests, but they remain estimates and conventions rather than authorities. Where a word count decides a grade, a fee or a publication, verify it against the counter your assessor or publisher actually uses. Grammar suggestions are generated automatically, are sometimes wrong, and are not professional editorial advice.
Availability
The site may be unavailable, changed or discontinued at any time without notice. The grammar checker has to download its engine before the first check, so it needs a working connection at that point and may be unavailable if the download fails.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of this site, including loss of work, marks, income or opportunity. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated; the date at the top of the page reflects the last revision. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
