Privacy Policy

Last updated

This policy describes what happens to information when you use WordCounterOrg. It is written to be read, not to be survived, so it is short and specific.

The text you type is not collected

The word counter runs entirely in your browser. Counting words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, keywords and reading time all happen in JavaScript on your own device. No request carrying your text is made to this site or to anyone else, and nothing you type is stored on a server. You can verify this yourself by opening your browser's network tab and typing into the editor.

The grammar checker is not an exception

The grammar checker also runs on your own device. The first time you press the check button, your browser downloads the checking engine — its dictionary and its rules — and every check after that is performed locally. The text you check is never sent to this site or to anyone else, is never stored, and no record is kept that a check happened.

The only network request the checker makes is the one that fetches the engine itself, and it carries none of your writing. You can confirm this in your browser's network tab: run a check and watch what is requested.

Storage on your device

A few small preferences are saved in your browser's localStorage: your chosen colour theme, your word counter settings (counting language, reading speeds, and whether common words are hidden in the keyword panel), and the English dialect you last checked against. They stay on your device, are never transmitted, and are removed if you clear site data. The text you write is deliberately not saved, so a shared or public computer does not keep your draft.

We do not use cookies, and there is no account system, so there is nothing to log in to.

Analytics and advertising

This site currently runs no analytics scripts and serves no advertising. If either is introduced, this page will be updated before it goes live, and any advertising will be disclosed here with the provider named.

Children

The site is a general-purpose writing utility that collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because no personal data is collected, there is no account, profile or record to access, correct, export or delete. If you have a question about this, use thecontact page.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes to what is collected will be described here rather than made quietly.
